Peter Kilcollins is a 3rd generation Funeral Director with over 24 years in the funeral profession. He has spent the last 20 years serving families in Winnipeg and the surrounding areas. Traditionally upon the death of a loved one, family and friends would gather with the remains present for 2 to 3 days. After this visitation was completed then a formal church service would take place followed by burial in a family plot. The evolution of funerals has changed over the years with the most significant being the ever-increasing rise in cremations. Families want their loved ones cremated immediately allowing them the option to keep the ashes at home, to bury them in a family plot or to simply scatter them in the wind at a time that is appropriate. This eliminates the need for them to plan the funeral immediately during their time of sorrow. In addition to this change, we have noticed that families are placing more emphasis on the celebration of the life of the deceased. By this we mean that many people belong to clubs, fraternities and other organizations and they are choosing to use these establishments that are meaningful to the deceased to gather and share special memories and fellowship creating a different atmosphere than the traditional church service. It is the mission of Kilcollins Cremation Service to help guide families through one of life’s most difficult times with dignity and reverence. Our professional staff will advise families of all of their options guiding them step by step so that they can make sound, informed decisions without any pressure.
